Tasting Notes
Of the more than 20 Pinot Noir bottlings we’ve produced, this stands as the most compelling yet. Sourced from Ferrington Vineyard, one of the earliest plantings in Anderson Valley, perched on a well-drained rise, these small, mature vines yield an intensely concentrated expression of red fruit that lingers gracefully on the palate. The aromatics are beautifully layered: cranberry and Bing cherry lead, unfolding into dried plum, blueberry, and a whisper of rose petal. Crisp yet elegant in weight, the palate is framed by subtle notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of anise. While it promises intrigue with age, it is already drinking beautifully—especially alongside a perfectly roasted rack of lamb.

Vineyard Notes
2024 was not a drought year but it exhibited characters typically found in one. The year started with significant rainfall which made for a late start. Two weeks behind had growers nervous and then a significant heat event in early July provided its own concerns of possible sunburn and canopy damage. This is one of the few times two wrongs made a perfect. The heat stopped the canopy growth at an ideal height without causing any damage to the fruit. In fact, it hastened harvest by reducing berry sizing leading to a smaller more intensely flavored crop (just like in a drought year). The early harvest was warmly welcomed after such a late 2023 and the fruit looked exciting coming into the winery.
Production Notes
The grapes were harvested early in the morning, then brought to the winery and hand-sorted. The fruit was destemmed into a fermenter and allowed to cold soak for a week, punched down twice a day during that period. Once inoculated, punch downs continued until the wine was pressed a few days before fermentation completed. Once primary fermentation ended, the Pinot was transferred to barrel and stirred once a month until malolactic fermentation was complete. This wine did not need fining and was bottled 11 months later.
