The staff at Meyer Family Cellars is small and close-knit. Due to the limited production of Meyer Family wines, the daily responsibilities around the winery are carried out by Winemakers Matt and Karen Meyer and a small handful of employees:
Sales Manager Tony Poer got his start in the wine business after college when he spent a year as garçon at Willi's wine bar in Paris. In 1992 he moved to San Francisco to pursue a retail and restaurant wine career. He spent 2000 to 2003 as wine buyer for Hayes and Vine, a popular Civic Center wine bar.
Today Tony, his wife, Rachel, and their daughter, Lucie, live in Napa Valley. He enjoys visiting accounts all over Napa Valley for Meyer Family Cellars.
Jay Newcomer has been an integral part of the Meyer Family team for more than thirteen years and has lived in beautiful Anderson Valley for eighteen years. He is a true renaissance man, with advanced skills in gardening, ranching, landscaping, construction and disc golf. Being the Facility Manager at MFC allows him to participate in the wine making under Karen and Matt’s watchful eye as well as plan and prepare all the delicious food that we pare with our wines at the many wonderful events we hold on site every year. If you have a chance come enjoy filet of beef from the wood fired oven he built in our picnic area. It happens at our Bonny’s release party each year. Jay also has two teenaged children, loves to fish, and hosts “Trading Time” on our local radio station every Saturday. Come by the cellar and introduce yourself, he might just give you a tour of the cellar.
Scarlet can usually be found in the tasting room on weekends. Scarlet brings extensive knowledge of wine and food in the Anderson Valley and beyond. She is well versed in the best places to stay and dine in the area and will cheerfully answer any questions you have about your visit. In her free time, Scarlet enjoys yoga, gardening and spending time with her rescue poodle, Skippy.
